Wading, Walking, Reflecting

Fall Stewardship Campaign Begins

The United Methodist Church requires congregations to hold an annual meeting every year. Preparing for this requires reviewing the ministry statistics, number of participants, and all such details to quantify the church’s ministry for the year. When this task comes around, it always reminds me of tax season with its list of numbers and data needing collection and organization by a specific day. And even though it happens every year, we can be tempted to procrastinate on digging in and parsing out the details. Once we have it done, though, with the reports completed and signed, we feel a sense of accomplishment. This year has been especially rewarding as The Garden waded into troubled waters with its anticipated shortfall and found as a community of faith that God was making a way to significantly reduce that burden. We saw God calling us to wade into the water and dare to walk on water. This Sunday, we will reflect on this year and its blessings and contemplate the directions toward which God may be calling us forward.
