Do You See What I See?
Light in Unexpected Places
The message this Sunday at The Garden invites us to look again—beyond the surface of our lives and into the deeper reality God is revealing. Drawing from the Christmas story, we explore how ordinary people were invited to see what heaven saw: light breaking into darkness, hope hidden in humility, and God’s presence arriving in unexpected places. Like the shepherds, we’re challenged to open our eyes to the signs of God’s work around us today and to see the world not with fear or cynicism, but with the vision of faith.
This kind of seeing requires courage and a willingness to imagine what could be, even when what is feels heavy or uncertain. As George Bernard Shaw wrote, “Some people see things as they are, and say why. I dream things that never were, and say why not.” Advent invites us into that dreaming. Can we open our eyes to see the world as God sees it, full of possibility, redemption, and light? This Sunday, let’s ponder what might be if we could become people who not only notice the signs of God’s presence, but respond with wonder, hope, and holy imagination.
