Spiritual Disciplines Part 3 of 4: Mindfulness

This Sunday we continued our series on Spiritual Disciplines with a focus on mindfulness, the practice of being fully present and engaged in the moment, without judgment. When we are mindful, we take space to connect with the spirit beyond the physical realm. Through mindfulness, we can intentionally step out of the ordinary and into the presence of God. Even Jesus had to create space for mindfulness and divine connection.

One might say we live in a world that does not promote mindfulness. Most of us are driven to distraction thinking about what is happening now, what we need to do, or what we have done. Let's just admit it: we are a busy people and it's hard for us to be still. But the truth about life is business often blocks mindfulness. One cannot connect with the spirit without being still. Mindfulness involves paying attention to one's thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment. In this service, we looked at some practical ways to live connected to the spirit through mindfulness.
