Little Star

Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes • July 8, 2025

Welcome, IYG, our next Big Give Recipient!

Join us this Sunday as we warmly welcome our friends from The Garden’s next Big Give recipient: the Indiana Youth Group (IYG)!

The IYG logo—a colorful asterisk known as the “Little Star”—invites us to look beyond appearances and appreciate the rich diversity of the queer community within both our local and global families. According to IYG’s website, their logo draws inspiration from the asterisk as a typographical symbol, which is “used to indicate that there is more than initially observable [and that the] subject requires additional research or context to be truly and fully understood. More to discover.”

What a beautiful parallel—the asterisk, a small star, holds this deeper meaning! Stars naturally evoke wonder and curiosity—qualities that open our hearts to discovery, understanding, and celebration of a vibrant world filled with diversity and beauty.

This Sunday, let’s explore how we can help create a community where every young person feels recognized, valued, and deeply loved. Each child is a unique spark of God’s spirit—cherished and beloved. Together, we can empower them to shine even brighter.

Don’t miss this inspiring gathering as we celebrate the “Little Stars” among us and commit to nurturing the next generation. Join us in joyful connection and meaningful conversation on how we can uplift Indy’s youth and help them flourish into their fullest, most authentic selves.
