Blessed are the Peacemakers

Messages from the Mountaintop

Today we conclude our journey through the Beatitudes with these words: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” This is more than a promise-—it is a divine calling to pursue peace in every area of our lives.

Peacemakers don’t passively hope for harmony; they actively engage in healing divisions, resolving conflict, and cultivating understanding. In a world fractured by social, political, and personal tensions, this calling is not reserved for a few-—it’s meant for all of us.

Every day, we witness the effects of violence, hostility, and discord. Our faith reminds us that peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, love, and understanding. To be a peacemaker is to embody love, to listen deeply, and to foster dialogue even amid disagreement.

This Sunday, we’ll take a closer look at what it truly means to be a peacemaker and how each of us is invited to take part in building a more peaceful world. Join us for Messages from the Mountaintop: Blessed are the Peacemakers.
