Elizabeth: Finding Her Voice

When we to think about the Christmas story, some names come to mind, like baby Jesus (of course), Mary, and Joseph. Our further thoughts might move on to shepherds, wisemen, and angels. We often overlook some very important voices in the narrative and, as is so often in history, these include those of the women. For example, Elizabeth and Anna are part of the Christmas story and some of its most important contributors. This year, we will listen to “her story” in the Advent journey. You may know some of the names and, perhaps, not others.

On the first week of Advent, we will meet Elizabeth, who found her voice when her husband lost his. We will consider how her story reminds us that we can overcome discrimination, societal expectations, and self-doubt to prepare the world for a love that will not let us go.
