Getting Ready for the Wave

Walking on Water

I have never been into surfing, but recently found my interest piqued by a program called The 100 Foot Wave. It explains that catching the wave is only part of what needs to happen in surfing. Getting ready for a wave is just as -- if not more -- important. The preparation involves a combination of physical and mental stamina. One needs the equipment, of course, the knowledge of how to use it, and the environmental conditions must be just right. Finally, the surfer must find the right positioning, timing, balance and energy. Then, if they hit it just right, they can catch the wave.

We are entering into Advent, the season before Christmas. To best enjoy this season, we too, have to prepare. We prepare our hearts and minds. We need to prepare our equipment, get our team together, and then catch the wave. And even then we may experience environmental conditions and things out of our control. On Sunday, we will look at ways we can prepare to Catch the Christmas Wave of 2023.
