Halloween Fun!

Music, Storytelling, and Fun

We celebrate Halloween as a secular, spook-tacular affair dominated by candy, costumes, and trick or treating. But did you know the holiday’s roots go back to an annual Celtic pagan festival called Samhain (pronounced "SAH-wane")? The Celts gathered on October 31st to celebrate Samhain, as they believed the change in season gave some prankster ghosts a doorway to come back and act out in mischievous ways, damaging fields impacting the next year’s harvest. The festival gave druids or priests the opportunity to address the ghosts and send them back. They used the occasion to remind the community that the darkness of winter would eventually be overcome by light and the cycle would begin again.

Join us this Sunday for a fun day at The Garden - music, story telling and a fun day of tricks and treats. Join the fun by dressing up and bringing a joke to share!
