A Garden on the Move

Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes • September 10, 2024

The Current Situation

This Sunday, we reflect on the history of our church and how God has always called communities of faith to be on the move. From the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, to Jesus sending out the 12 Disciples and the 70 in Acts, the church has always been on the move. However, at some point, we moved the church indoors, into buildings, and this shift has had a significant impact.

Join us as we look back at where the church has come from and where we are headed. We’ll share important information about our current location at Union Chapel and its impact on The Garden community. We’ll also pause to be mindful that, whatever the future holds, The Garden will always follow God’s calling. Our journey is not just physical but spiritual as well.

Join us this Sunday for “A Garden on the Move.”

DEVOTIONAL MOMENT

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end… I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that, if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore, I will trust You always.

Life’s storms—both external and internal—test our resilience, but they also offer an opportunity for transformation. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, this reflection explores how brokenness can lead to renewal, strength, and deeper purpose. Discover strategies for navigating challenges with mindfulness, self-care, and faith, and trust that in every fracture, light finds its way in.
